For my sons 5th birthday I decided to go with a Christmas in July theme. If you’ve ever met my family, you know how much we love Christmas. We wait all year to decorate and celebrate and when my son was born, my love for the holiday passed right on down to him. Since the day he was born on July 17, 2017 I would sing him Christmas songs to put him to sleep, when he was old enough to talk he would ask me to sing “Silent night” and “Rudolph the red nosed reindeer” every single night. Now, at 6 years old he still requests I sing his holiday favorites, it’s a special thing between the two of us and I hope he remembers it forever. So when it was time for his big number 5, I jumped at the chance to do a Christmas in July theme, even having the big man make a special appearance. We had a pool party so floating reindeer tubes from amazon were a must have, as well as red candy cane striped beach towels also available on amazon.

You can’t have a Christmas themed party without a Christmas tree and Christmas music. I made sure to purchase multiple snow machines and placed them throughout the entire yard so it felt like the real deal. On the speakers we played all of the Christmas classics and decorated with traditional red and green Christmas colors. Kristi Stork created this INCREDIBLE balloon arch and it really was the staple for this party and became the group and santa photo backdrop. If you are local to New Jersey and have an event, I highly recommend Ballons by Kristi Rose, she’s the best of the best.

To stay on theme, I purchased red and green sunglasses from Oriental Trading for each guest with a cute little glitter sign that said “may your day be merry & bright”. I also purchased red and green straws from amazon for the bar and created a custom sign that read “eat, drink and be merry”. It’s all about the details and I tried to really think about how to incorporate the theme in everything. I had it set in my head that I wanted a “Merry Birthday” banner, unfortunately I was unable to find one that I really loved, so Michaels and my cricuit made it happen! Speaking of details, I made sure to add a sign with every single one of my sons Christmas photos from the year he was born until his 5th birthday. It was another little detail that really translated and I couldn’t have been happier with the outcome.

Now to my favorite part, you know I had to create the best dessert table. I started by adding fake snow instead of a table cloth to keep the dessert table on theme. Before adding my desserts, I placed a wooden toboggan on top of the snow, added fake snowballs, then added my homemade desserts. I made every single dessert and cake on this board and it is one of my favorite dessert tables yet. My little guy loved Mickey so I created a Christmas themed mickey cake as well as a red, green and white striped cake with small Christmas bows. No matter the party, I try to have a number of dessert options, this table also included Christmas browniesicles, chocolate covered oreos and biscoff cookies, cupcakes, candy canes and more. My mom made a north pole sign for my sisters and I years back and it was the perfect addition to this table and I ALWAYS add a photo of my little guy to every dessert table. I hope you love it!!!

Happy Birthday sweet boy, Mommy loves you more than anything in the world.
