Mini Conversation Heart Tray Cakes

January 23, 2024

Hi!  Are you looking for the cutest dessert for your kids valentines day party or your galentines party?  STOP SEARCHING, I’ve got you covered!  My mini conversation heart cakes are delicious and so easy to make.  If you’re not a cake fan, you can easily swap for brownies, cookies or even cheesecake, the options are endless.  First you need the pans.  I purchased mine on amazon, they come with lids for easy serving and they have multiple color options.  You could even use washi tape to put little spoons on the lids as well.  Next, you need your favorite cake recipe, or if you want to save on time and money, your favorite boxed cake will work just as well.  Here’s my vanilla buttercream recipe, it will not disappoint even if you use box cake, your conversation hearts will taste homemade with my creamy and delicious buttercream.

Here’s what you need:
1.  Heart cake pans with lids
2.  Buttercream recipe or prepackaged frosting
3.  Alphabet silicone mold
4.  Red candy melts
5.  Food coloring (if making your own buttercream)

Instructions:

1.  Make your cake batter as directed.
2.  Fill heart pans about halfway, I fill them as I would a cupcake. (you could add an oreo or cookie to the bottom for an extra special pop of flavor)
3.  Bake heart cakes at 325 degrees for 15-20 minutes.
4.  If you are making my american buttercream, let’s whip that up.
5.  Divide buttercream or icing into separate bowls and color with food coloring.
6.  Once cakes have baked and cooled, use a knife to cut off the top portion of cake that has risen over pan.  You want a nice flat top.
7.  Using a butterknife or small offset spatula, apply a smooth, even layer of icing to top of cake.
8.  Melt red chocolate wafers in microwave at 30 second intervals.  Apply melted chocolate to alphabet silicone molds, spelling words you would like to use.  ie.  xo, love, hug me, kiss me.
9.  Let set.
10.  Add red letters to top of each cake.
11.  Pop on your lids and enjoy!

These cakes are super easy to make and even better to eat.  I’ve attached a video to help you through the decorating process, I hope it helps and I really hope you enjoy them!
